After Howard read a note about JD and Ronnie copping his Happy New Year fan-phoners, Ronnie came in to explain: "We called one girl. That was it." JD explained that they only meant to surprise the one hottie: "I didn't want to copy. I didn't want to be like, 'Let's do what Howard was doing.'" Howard said JD was off the hook--his problem was with Ronnie "You were such an asshole at the [holiday] party...you couldn't walk. You were wasted out of your brain." Howard complained that the poem he'd commissioned Ronnie to write for the party had begun, "Some people think my boss is an ass..." JD, who was tasked with reading Ronnie's work (because he was reluctant to do it himself), said he knew the line would go over poorly: "I felt a little uncomfortable reading it." Howard it was only downhill from there: "He rhymed the word night with night...Edgar Allen Shmoe, I call him." As Howard and Robin continued to critique the poem, Ronnie said he was done and walked out of the studio. JD later re-read the poem in its entirety.
