Sal’s Spelling: Still a Problem

Still seething from yesterday’s news that rampant misspelling had crippled attempts to search the show’s archives, Howard asked Sal to cease all contact with the system: “Please don’t input. Let somebody with half a brain do it.” Sal rushed in to argue that he could spell better than Gary: “I can spell! I can spell better than half the [staff]. … We need an idiot-proof system, I guess.” At Howard’s bidding, Sal attempted to spell “Napoleon”–and blew it: N-A-P-O-L-E-A-N. Howard then pointed to the archive, where Sal’s spelling was even worse: N-A-P-L-E-O-N. Sal claimed he was a better speller when he wasn’t put on the spot, as he suffers from essential tremors. He’s even begun taking beta-blockers to combat the issue, “because I have the jitters and the shakes and I act impulsively.”
