Before he left, Dale told Howard that he thought he still had work to do: “You are holding back in your therapy. … And I can prove it to you. You are a married man using condoms. What are you, a sailor?” Dale cited it as a latent marker of Howard’s old habits: “You are holding one foot back in your OCD.” Howard disagreed, citing his strong desire not to have any more children, but promised to give it some thought.
