Before he left, Howard introduced Tommy to Benjy's girlfriend, Elisa Jordana, and asked him for an honest evaluation of her talent: "She's at a stage in her life where she needs to know. … She's losing faith." Elisa confessed as much ("I don't need to know!") and sang for Tommy. Tommy was frank: "The song is very mediocre and your voice, you know, you should be singing a little softer. … You have a very thin, delicate voice."
When she was done, Elisa admitted that it wasn't her best performance: "I'm not sure about myself but one thing I am sure of is: you have never had anybody in your office like the act I have for you. It's not me. It's me and Benjy together. There's been nobody since Lucy & Desi, Sonny & Cher..." Tommy thought he was being pranked: "What is it, like the Jerky Boys?" Either way, Tommy hoped she'd stop singing: "I would stick with the comedy act."
