A DEAL'S A DEAL

A DEAL'S A DEAL

Howard took a minute to publicly answer the judge who, in a summary judgement, dismissed his lawsuit against Sirius XM. Howard repeated that his incentive bonuses were based on company-wide performance: “The deal wasn’t just for my subscribers on my channels because you have no real way of knowing that. … It was based on subscriptions period. Not Howard subscriptions.”
Another clause guaranteed a 2nd bonus in case of a Sirius-XM merger--an incentive added at the last minute, and one wholly separate from the subscription bonus: “We all of a sudden come up with a terrible scenario, right before I’m about to sign the contract. What if this thing tanks--Sirius--and XM, which is the big successful one, merges with Sirius and takes it over? … This was my Chevy Chase clause. In case all hell broke loose.” But the judge seemed to think that Howard had “enough money” and decided he didn’t need both bonuses.
