EXTREMELY HARD HOWARD STERN TRIVIA
At the top of the show this morning, a caller named Zack desperately wanted to go to the Birthday Bash at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Howard had a game ready – an extraordinarily difficult game called: Extremely Hard Howard Stern Trivia!
Jon Hein walked in with the sealed envelope of the toughest Stern Show questions of all time.
The rules were that Zack had to pick a staffer – any staffer besides Jon – and they would have to answer the tough questions. Zack went with the most logical choice, Gary "Baba Booey" Dell'Abate, who has always been the memory bank of the Stern Show.
The first question was: What unusual book did Howard find when he went through Fred Norris's bag?
(In the early 90's Howard went through Fred's bag on the air while Fred was in the bathroom. This absolutly infuriated Fred)
This question was so difficult that Howard wanted to give Gary some time to think about it, so he asked Fred what he kept in his bag today. Fred pulled out two One Direction CDs (allegedly for his daughter), protein bars, a pad of paper, magazines (Rolling Stone, Guitar Player), a hat, sunglasses, and an iPad.
A rare glimpse into the life of Fred, he admitted that he carries magazines because he reads them to at a diner alone after the show. He'll ordered eggs or a sandwich and flip through the latest issue of Guitar Player.
But back to the game, what was the name of that odd book Howard pulled out of Fred's bag?
Gary went with "How to Deal with Parents Who Are Alcoholics." Jon said the correct answer was "Coping with Alcoholic Parents." Fred said that both Gary's guess and the actual answer were incorrect – it was "Adult Children of Alcoholics" by Janet Woititz (which Fred pronounced as "White Tits")
Howard was miffed that the questions were so tough, even the correct answer was wrong, but he pushed on.
Next up: According to the book Private Parts, who was the very first Wack Packer?
Now Howard actually used Gary's incredible knowledge of the show to help him write Private Parts, but Gary wasn't sure about this one. Gary's gut told him it was Bo the Lesbian and he went with her. The correct answer, according to the book, was Irene the Leather Weather Lady.
Howard wanted to give Zack one more shot, so Jon read one final question: What was the phone number of Scott the Engineer's DJ business?
Thankfully, without hesitation, Gary knew 718-BAG-5040.
Zack was coming to the show and Jon Hein was 'fired.'
