Before he left, David remembered auditioning for Lorne Michaels with a Michael J. Fox impression: "I get on SNL and they want me to write for everyone and that's always hard, and I don't want to do that. I don't know how. I don't know how to write a sketch. And no one's there coaching you. They already had a Dana, which is a better version of me." It really burned him when Michael J. Fox finally signed on to host the show--and Lorne came straight to David, asking, "Can you teach Dana how to do the impression?"
