Comedian, author, podcaster, and soon-to-be TV star Marc Maron stopped by the show today, and boy did he have a lot to say.
SAM KINISON PEEING ON MY BED WAS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME
Marc Maron became friends with the legendary comic and Stern Show fixture Sam Kinison while Marc was a doorman at the Comedy Store in LA. Unfortunately the great round funnyman was spiraling out of control with drugs and booze at the time, and taking his friends with him. Maron described a party one night where he left to pick up a friend at the airport and, when he returned, Sam announced: "I pissed on your bed."
Marc knew then that it was time to get out, and he's glad he did.
MARC BULLIED JON STEWART
Howard was fascinated by Marc Maron's relationship with Jon Stewart. Maron admitted to years of insane jealousy toward Stewart because both comics started out together and, as Jon's star rose, Marc would see Stewart's face in magazines, which felt like a personal "F**k you, Maron." It was so bad at one point that Stewart walked into a Boston comedy club where Marc was performing, and Marc asked him from the stage: "Hey, how is it sucking Satan's cock?"
Years later Marc tried to apologize to Jon, but Stewart wanted no part of it, saying he didn't need Marc in his life.
Marc used to be jealous of Louis CK too, but the two have since worked it out and remain friends.
BOMBING AT THE CHEVY CHASE ROAST
Marc was also a roaster at the legendary Roast of Chevy Chase (i.e. the one where they couldn't get anybody who actually knew Chevy to roast him because he'd pissed off so many people). In front of 2,000 people, Marc bombed joke after joke: "I felt my personality disintegrating." He called it the worst experience of his life.
