Bill Murray plays the eccentric editor of a quirky American magazine operating out of Europe in the hot-off-the-presses trailer for Wes Anderson’s upcoming film “The French Dispatch.”

The Stern Show veteran and acting legend stars as Arthur Howitzer Jr., the titular publication’s peculiar and occasionally gruff head honcho reportedly based on real-life New Yorker co-founder Harold Ross. The film follows Howitzer Jr. and his eclectic cast of reporters and their subjects as the gang puts the finishing touches on the final issue of their magazine, described by the narrator as “a factual weekly report on the subjects of world politics, the arts—high and low—and diverse stories of human interests.”

Murray’s character clearly has a passion for his craft, but when an errand boy comes into his office and announces there’s only one hour left until press, he doesn’t hesitate to shoot the messenger. “You’re fired,” Murray’s character says (above), adding, “Don’t cry in my office.”

Anderson wrote and directed “The French Dispatch” which features a robust cast including Elisabeth Moss, Henry Winkler, Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Saoirse Ronan, Jason Schwartzman, Christoph Waltz, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Liev Schreiber, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Mathieu Amalric, Stephen Park, and Owen Wilson.

“The French Dispatch” arrives July 24 in theaters.
