VIDEO: Jeff Ross Remembers Comedy Legend Bob Saget Before Roasting the Stern Show Staff
Roastmaster General sits down with Gary Dell’Abate and Jon Hein ahead of upcoming Broadway production “Take a Banana for the Ride”

Stern Show Summer School got off to a blistering start this week as famed funnyman Jeff Ross stopped by to chat with co-hosts Gary Dell’Abate and Jon Hein about his one-man show “Take a Banana for the Ride,” opening next month on Broadway. The trio’s candidly hilarious conversation covered a variety of fascinating topics, from the kind voicemail Howard left after Jeff’s recent Stern Show appearance to the questionably timed joke Jeff’s doctor cracked while diagnosing him with cancer. The conversation turned heartfelt as Jeff opened up about the loss of his good friend and a comedy legend in his own right, Bob Saget, who passed away suddenly in 2022.
“He would preach positivity, and he would cut out trolls from his life,” Ross said of the stand-up star turned TV dad. “He was also this wonderful dad [with] three amazing kids. Everything about him was fatherly … Even though he was this big global TV star, he really lived the life of a comic. He was in my tribe.”
“Any issue that was happening, he would always have your back,” Jeff continued. “I wish everyone had a friend like Bob.”
Summer School couldn’t end without Jeff roasting the Stern Show staff, of course, and the Roastmaster General was all too happy to hit Ronnie Mund, Sal Governale, Richard Christy, and Jason Kaplan with some quick zingers. He even had a joke for Gary’s new headshot: “[He] looks like he sells real estate in Boca Raton,” Ross quipped of the Summer School host and Stern Show executive producer.
