Music lovers were in for a treat Wednesday morning as award-winning artist and record producer Finneas visited the Stern Show alongside critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Ashe to debut their new group: The Favors. The band, also featuring David Marinelli, Ricky Gourmet, Lucy Healey, and Aron Forbes — popped in to chat with Howard about their eagerly anticipated debut album “The Dream,” arriving Friday.

“There’s such like a friendship and love and mutual respect here that it was very like, ‘Hey, how can we just have the best time and make the best record we can,’” Ashe told Howard, later adding, “Finneas is so incredibly talented and prolific … He really does show up every time.”

The candid interview covered the origins of the band, how they wrote and recorded “The Dream” in just three weeks, and what makes Finneas and Ashe such great collaborative partners.

“The real glue here is we just think Ashe is a great songwriter,” Finneas told Howard.

Putting together their new record was quick and seemed relatively painless, but Ashe admitted they did encounter writer’s block when trying to name their group: “Coming up with a band name is hard because everything is taken,” she explained to Howard with a laugh.

Finneas, who has joined the Stern Show twice before alongside his superstar sister and longtime co-songwriter and co-performer Billie Eilish, also revealed how he balances a very demanding schedule. “I stepped away from touring with Billie specifically so I’d always be available to make Billie’s albums. What was happening was I’d be on the road with Billie for nine months a year and then I’d come home, and we’d make our albums, and then I’d go back out,” Finneas noted, adding that while family always comes first for him he did also want to make time for his own projects.

Howard’s captivating conversation with the Favors was prelude to a live in-studio rendition their new song “Lake George,” which Ashe said was inspired by the classic Simon & Garfunkel tune “Old Friends.” Check out the Favors’ spirited performance (above) and catch “The Dream” Friday, Sept. 19.
