Benicio Del Toro Stops by Ahead of ‘Wolfman’

Benicio Del Toro stopped by to promote ‘Wolfman,’ and Howard began the interview attempting to make a Robin-Benicio love connection: “Have you ever had a black woman?”

Benicio offered a quiet “yeah.” Howard then read an interview in which director Terry Gilliam described Benicio’s behavior on the set of ‘Fear and Loathing’ as “needy,” but Benicio seemed put off: “No. Not at all. No. That’s old.”

Howard asked if Terry’s difficulties were due to Benicio’s method acting process, so Benicio shrugged: “I started doing that…you get used to it. But I’m not one of those actors where you gotta call me by the character’s name.”

Benicio then told the crew about making his screen debut in ‘Pee Wee’s Big Adventure’–complaining that his character’s name still stung: “That was my first. And I was duped. ‘Dogface Boy,’ man.”
