Steve Langford reported that he’d spoken with one of the writers at Ebony magazine and asked why they’d taken so long to profile Robin–the writer claimed that Robin didn’t have an “Ebony perspective.”

Robin was miffed, saying her Ebony article quoted her correctly, but “I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. The questions were crazy.”

Robin said it wasn’t the first time the black media had snubbed her: “I was interviewed by Essence…that interview never aired.”

Robin added that the black media’s “Ebony perspective” was too narrow: “I thought Martin Luther King was fighting for the right for me to be an individual…not to be grouped with a bunch of people.”

Howard agreed: “That’s upsetting to me. I’d do something…if I wasn’t so lazy.”
