7 Ways to Spell ‘Phony’
Jon Leiberman reported that years of spelling mistakes were causing problems in Howard’s archiving system, including the 7 different ways Sal had spelled “phony” when entering phony phone calls. Among the spellings were: P-H-O-N-I-E, P-H-O-N-E-Y and F-O-N-E-Y. Howard wasn’t surprised: “And that’s the problem. Everyone expects Sal to be an idiot, and then when he does something idiotic, he gets a free ride. … Why is he being allowed to input stuff into the system? He’s a moron. We’re the idiots for allowing him near that thing.”
