Howard also wondered why JD behaved so strangely in his presence, so JD came in to explain: “It’s weird whenever you’re staring at me. Because I can feel your look on me.” Howard said it was an affectionate gaze, as he sees a young version of his damaged self (“It’s like I’m looking at a son.”), but JD disagreed: “I’m not damaged. I’m not very, ah, uh, I’m not socially, uh–I can’t communicate well.” Howard laughed that JD was right–English is “your second language.”
