‘Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later’ Trailer Reunites Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, and the Rest of the Summer Camp Gang
Netflix sequel series flash-forwards a decade to 1991
June 22, 2017The staff of Camp Firewood are keeping their promise to meet up a decade later in the new “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later” trailer. The Netflix sequel series jumps ahead to 1991 where Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, Molly Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Janeane Garofalo, Ken Marino, and Marguerite Moreau all reprise their original characters, only with much, much different hairstyles.
After learning their beloved summer camp is going to be sold, the group of foul-mouthed misfits tries to come up with a plan to save it. “Ten Years Later” is the second revival of the original 2001 cult flick, following Netflix’s 2015 prequel project “First Day of Camp.” David Wain once again serves as director, as well as playing the part of President Bill Clinton. Wain’s co-writer Michael Showalter returns as the lovable Coop but also in a cameo as Ronald Reagan. The trailer also shows Michael Ian Black dressed as George H.W. Bush.
Crediting every name in the all-star cast takes over half of the time allotted in the trailer, with Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, Dax Shepard, Alyssa Milano, Jai Courtney, Adam Scott, Samm Levine, David Hyde Pierce, H. Jon Benjamin, Jason Schwartzman, Joe Lo Truglio, John Early, Josh Charles, A.D. Miles, and Beth Dover all making the newest camp roster.
Paul Rudd sports some much longer hair than he did in the original movie. In 2015, Paul told Howard about having long hair in real life while trying to make it as a DJ at a Kansas City ’50s bar. Hear Paul tell that story in the audio clip (below).
“Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later” is available to stream on Netflix August 4.
