‘Tremors’ Reboot With Kevin Bacon Headed to SyFy
Past Stern Show guest is reprising his role and executive producing

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the desert, SyFy is looking to reboot Kevin Bacon’s 1990 horror flick “Tremors” and turn it into a new series.
The network has purchased a pilot for “Tremors,” according to reports, set 25 years after the original which centered around a cocky cowboy named Valentine McKee (Bacon) and a handful of other characters in a small Nevada town besieged by giant, man-eating “Graboid” worms.
The cult-classic film spawned several direct-to-video sequels and a short-lived TV series in the early 2000s, but Bacon didn’t appear in either. However, the actor and longtime Stern Show guest will reprise his role on the SyFy series, as well as serve as an executive producer.
According to descriptions, Valentine will once again have to battle the Graboids despite being hampered by age, a fondness for booze, and delusions of heroism. It’s unclear whether any of Bacon’s original co-stars, including Fred Ward and country music icon Reba McEntire, might also reprise their roles. The series will be produced by Blumhouse Television with Andrew Miller set to serve as showrunner.
“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting,” Bacon said in a statement. “I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years? Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let’s kick some Graboid ass!”
Bacon, who also currently stars on Amazon’s “I Love Dick,” last sat down with Howard in 2013 and discussed everything from his role in the “X-Men” franchise to his iconic ’80s film “Footloose.” Click here for more from that visit.
