VIDEO: Hannibal Buress Pays Man $500 to Impersonate Him at ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Premiere
Comedian and former Stern Show guest plays Coach Wilson in the July 7 superhero film
June 29, 2017Hannibal Buress was unable to attend the Thursday night premiere of his new film “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” so he did the next best thing: he reportedly paid a man $500 to impersonate him on the red carpet.
The comedian and past Stern Show guest—who plays Coach Wilson in Marvel’s upcoming superhero flick—sent actor Joe Carroll to attend the premiere in his place, after having first put out a call for impersonators on Twitter.
Buress hasn’t yet revealed why he couldn’t attend the “Spider-Man” opening, though he did explain why he sent someone in his stead — he apparently suffers from “FOMO,” aka the fear of missing out.
It’s called extreme FOMO. https://t.co/nJUtgqMvdB

While it’s unclear whether anyone from the “Spider-Man” cast or crew actually confused Carroll for Buress, the stand-in was able to snag at least one red carpet interview with a reporter. Check it out in a video Buress later posted to Instagram (below).
