‘Body Issue’ 2017: MMA Fighters, NFL Stars, and the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team Get Naked
ESPN The Magazine's annual look at athletes in the nude hits newsstands July 7
July 5, 2017Twenty-three of sports’ biggest names have posed naked for ESPN The Magazine’s 2017 “Body Issue,” which debuted digitally on Wednesday and hits newsstands Friday.
Among those flaunting their fully nude physiques are tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, and Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez. Also included are several athletes set to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, including figure skater Ashley Wagner and six members of the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team (featured above).
The magazine has offered an annual look at world-class athletes in the buff since its first “Body Issue” in 2009. Other stars included in this year’s collection include NHL players Brent Burns and Joe Thornton, NFLers Julian Edelman and Zach Ertz, basketball pros Isaiah Thomas and Nneka Ogwumike, skier Gus Kenworthy, mixed martial arts fighter Michelle Waterson, and snowboarder Kirstie Ennis (featured in the video below).
Stars who’ve appeared in past issues include tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams, embattled swimmer Ryan Lochte, NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, transgender duathlon competitor Chris Mosier, and MMA stars Gina Carano and Conor McGregor, to name a few.
