When it comes to art, who says size matters? On Monday's show, Howard discussed his latest painting venture — working on three-inch canvases.
"In order to be a good painter, you gotta kind of find your thing and perfect it. You can't be all over the place," he told Robin. "You gotta try and concentrate on one thing." Ukrainian artist Yana Khachikyan has proven Howard's point with her series of tiny paintings on stones that could fit in your pocket, most likely with several other items.
As you can see on her website, Khachikyan's work often barely outsizes a peanut, but the detail and artistry at hand remains on point. According to a bio she apparently wrote for one of her galleries, Khachikyan began painting on tiny surfaces two years ago and it has quickly become her passion. The stones she paints feature designs ranging from birds to whales to entire detailed cottage tableaus. "Usually it takes me several hours up to a few days to finish one painting — it depends on the complexity of the picture," she wrote.
