Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks play trailblazing journalists taking on a lying, conspiratorial U.S. government in the newly released official trailer for Steven Spielberg’s “The Post.”

20th Century Fox’s upcoming historical drama follows the Washington Post’s Katharine Graham (Streep), America’s first female publisher of a major newspaper, and her editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks) as they overcome their differences and race to catch up with the New York Times on a massive scoop about a decades-long government cover-up which could make or break their careers.

The Spielberg-directed and co-produced film features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford, Zach Woods, Bob Odenkirk, and Stern Show veteran David Cross.

“The Post” hits theaters Dec. 22. Watch the official trailer (above).
