UPDATE [03/01/17]: On Tuesday, 20th Century Fox dropped the official trailer for “Alien: Covenant.”

Unlike the recently released five-minute prologue (below), which provided a solid but subdued overview of the Covenant’s crew and mission, the official trailer is filled with enough screaming, burning, and shooting to make “Alien” fans squeal with glee.

Audiences also get their first glimpse of the titular terrorizers themselves, as well as a peek at some of the franchise’s other familiar dangers, including a Facehugger like the one that took down John Hurt’s character in the 1979 original.

ORIGINAL [02/23/17]: Space colonists enjoy one last round of shots in a five-minute “Alien: Covenant” prologue, which Fox dropped on Wednesday.

James Franco, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Katherine Waterston and Billy Crudup star in both the short film, officially titled “Prologue: The Last Supper,” and Ridley Scott’s upcoming science-fiction/horror feature, which hits theaters in May.

The foreboding prologue shows would-be space colonists arm wrestling, pounding booze, and swapping scary stories before putting themselves into “hypersleep” for the remainder of their interplanetary journey. There’s a moment of tension as one nearly chokes to death, but thankfully the crew’s friendly android (Fassbender, who also starred in “Prometheus”) is there to lend a hand.

“Alien: Covenant” hits theaters May 19.
