Chris Hemsworth-led Marvel sequel hits theaters Nov. 3

July 24, 2017

Marvel released the official trailer over the weekend for “Thor: Ragnarok,” the superhero studio’s third standalone film starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular lightning god.

It starts with Thor unexpectedly facing off against Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), a fellow Avenger, in an extra-dimensional gladiator battle. While the crowd expects them to fight to the death, Thor is happy to reconnect. “So much has happened since I last saw you,” he tells his old friend, sharing stories of a lost hammer, a journey of self-discovery, and a new antagonist in Asgardian death goddess Hela (Cate Blanchett).

Of course, none of that stops Hulk from punching him into a wall.

The trailer, which racked up over 20 million views in its first two days, is filled with action, gags, and extended looks at Blanchett as the villain and franchise favorite Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who always seems to play for both teams. It also gives audiences glimpses of two anticipated newcomers in Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).

“Thor: Ragnarok” hits theaters Nov. 3. Watch the trailer (above).
