Jessica Chastain plays the hand she’s dealt in “Molly’s Game,” an upcoming biopic about Molly Bloom, the so-called Princess of Poker.

Based on Bloom’s autobiography “Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker,” the film follows her journey from Olympic-class skier to world-class poker proprietor, setting up cash-heavy games with Hollywood A-listers and Russian mobsters alike. As the trailer begins (above), Chastain—who has previously starred as everything from an astronaut to a CIA Analyst who helped Robert O’Neill’s SEAL Team bring down Osama bin Laden—is in desperate need of an ally. The FBI has already come crashing down on her lucrative business and she has no one to turn to, aside from a defense attorney played by Idris Elba.

Aaron Sorkin adapted the script for and directed “Molly’s Game,” which co-stars Kevin Costner, Chris O’Dowd, Graham Greene, and Michael Cera. The film premieres at Toronto International Film Festival in September and opens theatrically on Nov. 22.
