“Jerry Before Seinfeld” debuts Sept. 19

August 29, 2017

Jerry Seinfeld is turning back the clock in the trailer (above) for his first stand-up special in nearly two decades.

The comedy icon will make his Netflix debut on Sept. 19 with “Jerry Before Seinfeld,” an hour-long special combining brand new jokes with vintage material he first wrote and performed in the 1970s. It’s the first of two specials Jerry has agreed to do for the digital streamer. It’s also the Stern Show veteran and “Seinfeld” co-creator’s first stand-up special of any sort since 1998’s “I’m Telling You for the Last Time.”

Netflix also released a series of Instagram videos featuring footage from his new special as well as hand-written notes from decades-old routines. Check out a few of the teasers (below).

In addition to the two stand-up specials, Netflix has acquired Jerry’s digital series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” which premiered in 2012 and has featured countless A-list guests over its many seasons, including Tina Fey, Amy Schumer, Garry Shandling, Chris Rock, and Howard himself. The series will make its Netflix debut later this year.
