Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) starts the official trailer for Netflix’s “The Punisher” by quietly strumming a few bars of the Metallica song “One.” But much like in the increasingly tempestuous track itself, mayhem is on the immediate horizon.

Before he can finish the song’s intro, an intruder has murdered his wife and child. This is of course the tragic origin story for Castle’s alter-ego the Punisher, a murderous Marvel vigilante Bernthal first portrayed on Season 2 of Netflix’s “Daredevil” and will now resurrect for a series of his own.

The (literally) explosive trailer (above) pays homage to Metallica in more ways than “One.” In addition to having Castle dispense his ultra-violent brand of justice to the sounds of the 2016 Stern Show guests’ iconic single, the trailer for “The Punisher’s” first season even has its titular anti-hero uttering the title of Metallica’s first album.

“You and me, we want the same thing. So work with me,” David “Microchip” Lieberman (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), a computer hacker and potential ally, tells him in the trailer.

“One condition,” Castle responds. “I’m going to kill ‘em all.”

“The Punisher,” co-starring Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, and Deborah Ann Woll, premieres later this year on Netflix. In the meanwhile, catch Bernthal starring opposite Elizabeth Olsen and recent Stern Show guest Jeremy Renner in “Wind River.”
