Mankind’s fate rests in the hands of Oscar-winning "Danish Girl" star Alicia Vikander in the first trailer for “Tomb Raider,” a big-budget action remake hitting theaters next March.
Vikander—like Angelina Jolie did before her—stars as Lara Croft, an intrepid young adventurer who in this story risks life and limb to explore the island where her father mysteriously disappeared.
Based on the popular puzzle-filled action game from the late 1990s, the “Tomb Raider” trailer (above) pays homage to the video game's enduring heroine by showing Vikander dodging deadly booby traps and avoiding perilous pitfalls in her trademarked khakis and form-fitting tank top.
“Tomb Raider,” directed by Roar Uthaug (“The Wave”) and co-starring Dominic West (“The Wire”), Walton Goggins (“Hateful Eight”), and Daniel Wu (“Into the Badlands”), hits theaters March 16, 2018.
