VIDEO: Adam Levine Swims With Dolphins, Terrorizes Las Vegas in Maroon 5 and SZA’s ‘What Lovers Do’

Joseph Kahn-directed video also includes a singing sunflower and CGI dinosaur

September 28, 2017

A Godzilla-sized Adam Levine runs amok in Las Vegas in “What Lovers Do,” the weird and wild new video from Maroon 5 and featured artist SZA.

Directed by Joseph Kahn, the video (above) begins simply enough with children playing innocently in a field, but before long the kids encounter everything from a singing sunflower to a CGI triceratops. Soon, Levine and SZA are running, surfing, and swimming with dolphins. At one point, Levine transforms into a mustache-clad, long-jumping Olympian.

The wackiest sequence in “What Lovers Do,” however, happens after Levine goes all-in at the card table in Sin City. He loses his cool after losing the hand and suddenly he’s 100-feet tall and trampling buildings all over the Las Vegas Strip.

Maroon 5 is reportedly working on its sixth studio album as Adam also moonlights on NBC’s competitive-singing show “The Voice.” When he returned to the Stern Show in March, Adam told Howard all about what goes on behind-the-scenes on “The Voice,” including with the blossoming relationship between his superstar colleagues Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

“If you had told me that Blake Shelton would be with Gwen Stefani, I would have told you ‘you’re out of your fucking mind’ but it’s so wrong that it’s right,” Adam told Howard. “I don’t think that you can really control those types of matters of the heart. I think they found each other at a really interesting time in their lives and I see it as a beautiful thing.”
