The duo who inspired Stern Show regular James Franco’s Oscar-nominated 2017 film “The Disaster Artist” is looking to strike lightning once more. Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero, the team behind the 2003 cult film “The Room,” just dropped a first look at their latest collaboration, “Best F(r)iends.”

Their new movie follows a drifter (Sestero) who forms an unusual friendship with a mortician (Wiseau). Described as volume one of a two-volume tale, the “Best F(r)iends” official trailer (above) is chock full of guns, violence, screaming, blood, fire, romance, dead clowns, mysterious ATM machines, and of course Tommy’s recognizable acting style.

James discussed that acting style at length last December, before the release of “The Disaster Artist,” when he visited the Stern Show along with Wiseau, who he portrayed in the film. In his conversation with Howard, James revealed he was able to capture Tommy’s essence by remaining in character between takes, which he said led to interesting interactions with his costars Seth Rogen and Dave Franco (who played Sestero).

“When in Hollywood history has the director acted in his own movie playing a director acting in his own movie and stayed in character?” Franco asked. Listen to a clip from his sit-down with Howard (below) and check out the full interview here.

“Best F(r)iends” is directed by Justin MacGregor and written by Sestero, co-author of the best-selling book “The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made,” from which Franco’s film was adapted.
