Illinois-based hard rockers Enuff Z’Nuff dropped a blistering new single this week along with plans for a full-length summer album.

“Diamond Boy,” arriving in August courtesy of Frontiers Music Srl, will be the prolific band’s 14th studio effort and will contain 11 tracks in total, including the just-released lead single “Metalheart” (below).

“Diamond Boy” also marks the band’s first new album since Chip Z’Nuff took over as bassist and lead vocalist. Chip, who made his most recent Stern Show visit in 2010 alongside legendary Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, revealed filling his brother’s shoes on the new record has actually been quite challenging. “I’m taking the place of my brother who I consider one of the greatest singers of our generation. The songs on this record are solid as a boulder,” he explained in a statement.

Chip also described the sound of the band’s new effort. “Picture David Bowie and the Beatles fighting and Cheap Trick comes in to break it up,” he said.

Enuff Z’Nuff’s “Diamond Boy” is available Aug. 10. Check out the full track listing here and listen to “Metalhead” (above).
