VIDEO: Michael Rapaport’s On-Screen Family Faces New Challenges in ‘Atypical’ Season 2 Trailer
Keir Gilchrist, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Brigette Lundy-Paine co-star in Netflix's coming-of-age dramedy, returning Sept. 7
August 20, 2018The Gardner family struggles to adapt to several big changes in the trailer for Season 2 of “Atypical,” Netflix’s coming-of-age dramedy returning with new episodes in September.
Sam (Keir Gilchrist), a young man on the Autism spectrum searching for some semblance of independence, must look ahead to life after graduation while his sister (Brigette Lundy-Paine) must learn to navigate brand-new surroundings. Their parents Doug (Stern Show regular Michael Rapaport) and Elsa (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh) have their own set of adult challenges, meanwhile, and must figure out how to keep their family together while their relationship may well be falling apart.
“For most mammalian species, survival depends on knowing and sticking with your pack,” Sam explains in the trailer (above) over scenes filled with laughter, tears, and one where his sister sits on his head. “But the members of my pack keep migrating—to other schools, to other houses, or just away from me.”
“Atypical,” also starring Amy Okuda and Nik Dodani, returns to Netflix for Season 2 on Sept. 7. Watch the official trailer (above).
