Michael B. Jordan Looks to Avenge His Father’s Death in Gritty New ‘Creed II’ Trailer

Stern Show guest Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren reprise their “Rocky IV” roles in the Nov. 21 sequel

Michael B. Jordan laces up the boxing gloves once more in the latest trailer for November’s “Creed II.”

In the 2015 original, Jordan’s character Adonis Creed tested his talents in the ring to prove something to himself. In doing so, he formed a friendship with boxing legend Rocky Balboa (past Stern Show guest Sylvester Stallone). In the sequel, Adonis returns to the ring for a more dramatic reason: to avenge the death of his father Apollo, who was killed while fighting Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in 1985’s “Rocky IV.”

Adonis is more than eager to step into the ring and square off against Ivan’s equally formidable son Viktor Drago (Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu) when given the opportunity, but Rocky doesn’t think it’s such a smart idea considering Adonis has his pregnant girlfriend (Tessa Thompson) and mom (Phylicia Rashad) to think about.

Besides, as anyone who’s seen “Rocky IV” can attest, Rocky knows precisely how hard those Drago men can punch. “He broke things in me that ain’t never been fixed,” Rocky tells Adonis in the trailer (above).

Of course, Adonis seems unconcerned by the risks and he won’t be denied the opportunity to avenge his father’s death. So, Rocky once again agrees to help him prepare for battle, and much of the trailer focuses on the hardcore training regimen Adonis undergoes to get ready.

“Creed II,” co-starring Wood Harris, Russell Hornsby, and Andre Ward, opens Nov. 21. Watch the latest trailer (above).
