Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron turns on the charm as serial killer Ted Bundy in the teaser for the upcoming true-crime drama “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil & Vile.”

The film follows Bundy’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer (Lily Collins), as she slowly begins to learn what kind of man she’s really dating—one of America’s most notorious predators who ultimately wound up sexually assaulting scores of women and murdering at least 30 people before being captured, convicted, and executed in 1989.

Hetfield, meanwhile, co-stars as Officer Bob Hayward, the clean-cut Utah highway patrolman who arrested Bundy in 1975. The short trailer features the heavy metal icon and past Stern Show guest multiple times: once as he’s pulling Bundy over on a desolate road and later as he’s interrogating Efron’s character at the police station. While it’s his acting debut, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” isn’t Hetfield’s first time working with director Joe Berlinger. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker previously directed his band in the acclaimed rock doc “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.”

“Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” co-starring Kaya Scodelario, John Malkovich, and Jim Parsons, premiered at Sundance Film Festival but has not yet announced its theatrical release date.
