Singer, songwriter, and philanthropist Joshua Radin has released a critically acclaimed new single “Here, Right Now,” written from the point of view of an abused animal grateful to have finally found a good home. Proceeds from the song—set to appear on his upcoming album of the same name—will go to the North Shore Animal League.

Howard praised the track on Monday’s Stern Show, thanking Radin for using his artistic talents to raise money and awareness for such an important cause. In a recent Instagram post, meanwhile, it was Radin who praised both Howard and his wife Beth Stern when he revealed they were two of the people who apparently helped inspire him to write the song.

“My sister, who spends so much of her time at shelters and has rescued two amazing dogs was the person in my life who inspired me to get involved,” Radin wrote in a caption published Friday alongside images of him with his two dogs. “Then last summer Beth and Howard Stern asked me to play a benefit for [North Shore Animal League] and I felt like I could do more.”

In addition to the new album, Radin has plans for an upcoming fall tour presented by SiriusXM’s Coffee House. The tour, which also includes Lily Kershaw and the Weepies, kicks off Oct. 8 in West Hollywood, Calif.
