Lady Gaga Leads a Desert Dance Party in ‘Stupid Love’ Music Video

Stern Show veteran releases first new single since Oscar-winning “Shallow”

February 28, 2020

Lady Gaga channels everything from “Mad Max” to Burning Man in the trippy, high-energy video for her new song “Stupid Love.” Released Friday, the tune serves as the first single off her forthcoming sixth studio album.

Directed by Daniel Askill, the music video (above) opens with a foreboding message: “The world rots in conflict. Many tribes battle for dominance. While the spiritual ones pray and sleep for peace, the kindness punks fight for Chromatica.” Meanwhile, in a post-apocalyptic-looking desert wasteland, Lady Gaga and her vibrantly colored acolytes indulge in a dance party—or perhaps dance battle—as rival factions look on and put their moves on display as well.

In addition to being the lead single off Gaga’s presently untitled new album, “Stupid Love” doubles as the her first new song since the release of her Oscar-winning hit “Shallow,” from the film “A Star Is Born” which also earned her an acting nomination. The multi-talented performer’s acting days aren’t behind her, either. She also has plans to star in Ridley Scott’s upcoming murder mystery about the Gucci family’s fashion dynasty.

The actress and 11-time Grammy winner has visited the Stern Show multiple times over the years. During her October 2016 visit, she performed live and spoke to Howard all about her fifth studio album, “Joanne.” Check out Lady Gaga’s in-studio rendition of “Million Reasons” (below).
