Billie Eilish Braves a Flood in Titular Music Video for Sophomore Album ‘Happier Than Ever’

Grammy-winning Stern Show veteran’s 16-track effort is out now

July 30, 2021

Billie Eilish pulls off the improbable in the official music video for “Happier Than Ever,” the title track off her sophomore album—she survives a deadly flood, sings her heart out on a rain-soaked rooftop, and even makes a phone call from a landline.

The clip, directed by the 19-year-old Stern Show guest herself, was released Friday along in conjunction with her eagerly anticipated 16-track effort. “Happier Than Ever” serves as Eilish’s first studio album since 2019’s “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?,” which went four-times platinum and helped net her six awards at that year’s Grammys.

The song “Happier Than Ever” is the sixth release off the album, following “Your Power,” “Lost Cause,” “NDA,” “Therefore I Am,” and “My Future.” The new record, like Billie’s first, was produced and co-written by her brother Finneas O’Connell. As Stern Show fans will remember, the duo treated listeners to a behind-the-scenes look at their song-writing process during their 2019 sit down with Howard which also included a wide-ranging interview and several live performances.
