The NBC police comedy premieres Aug. 12

After eight seasons, the NBC police comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is coming to an end—something its characters are mindful of in the final season trailer. “I’ve always had this image of us in our nineties hunting down criminals at the retirement home—but I guess that was just a dumb fantasy,” Detective Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglia) tells his partner.

“This workplace is my family … Holt is my dad, you’re my mean older sister, Amy’s my mom,” past Stern Show guest Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta says in another scene to fellow detective Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz).

Other than that, the trailer promises business-as-usual hijinks at the precinct this season, with Jake and his wife, Sergeant Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero), struggling to keep track of their daycare pickup schedule, a debate over the pronunciation of “whoop,” and Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) accidentally sending a “digital phallus portrait.”

The trailer also includes Terry Crews, Dirk Blocker, Joel McKinnon Miller, Chelsea Peretti, and Howard Stern Wrap Up Show regular Jason Mantzoukas.

The final season of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” begins Aug. 12 on NBC.
