Ben Affleck serves up wisdom by the pint in the trailer for “The Tender Bar,” arriving in theaters later this year.

Directed by Stern Show veteran George Clooney and adapted from Pulitzer Prize-winning writer J.R. Moehringer’s memoir of the same name, the story follows a mostly fatherless Long Island boy, J.R., (Daniel Ranieri and, later, Tye Sheridan) who grows up learning most of his lessons about life, ladies, and masculinity from the town bartender, a.k.a. his colorful Uncle Charlie (Affleck).

“I saw you in the yard playing sports. You’re not very good. You’ll find some other activities,” Affleck’s character tells his nephew (above) before encouraging him to become a writer.

Written by Oscar winner William Monahan (“The Departed”), “The Tender Bar” also stars Lily Rabe and Christopher Lloyd.

“The Tender Bar” debuts Dec. 17 in theaters and Jan. 17 on Amazon Prime Video.
