A friendly, neighborhood superhero squares off against infamous Marvel villains from across multiple universes in the official trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” swinging into theaters Dec. 17.

Tom Holland reprises his role as the beloved web-slinger, starring alongside returning love interest MJ (Zendaya) and fellow “Avengers: Endgame” alum Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). The clip begins with Spider-Man, a.k.a. Peter Parker, in a funk because the whole world has learned of his secret identity, thanks to a run-in he had with recent Stern Show guest Jake Gyllenhaal in the franchise’s last installment, “No Way Home.” Spider-Man concocts a memory-wiping spell with the help of Doctor Strange, but things go horribly awry and feared foes from franchises past soon start to invade New York.

“When you botched that spell .. we started getting some visitors from every universe,” Cumberbatch’s character laments (above).

It’s unclear precisely how many villains Spider-Man must battle, but the trailer features everyone from Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin—who hail from the Tobey Maguire-era Spider-Man films—to Jamie Foxx’s Electro, who antagonized Andrew Garfield in 2014’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”

Directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” also stars Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, Benedict Wong, and Stern Show veterans Jon Favreau, J.B. Smoove, and J.K. Simmons.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” opens Dec. 17.
