“Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator’s “Larry David Story” debuts March 1

“I never thought of myself as being funny,” legendary funnyman Larry David says in the trailer for HBO’s upcoming two-part documentary about his life and career. “Anything I was associated with that was successful was a shock.”

The aptly titled “The Larry David Story” examines the humble Brooklyn upbringing and impressive three-decade TV career of 74-year-old “Seinfeld” creator, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star, and Stern Show veteran Larry David. Described as “genuine, hilarious, and eye-opening,” the Larry Charles-directed and Mark Herzog-produced doc also offers insight into David’s core persona, including his thoughts on everything from metaphysics to parenthood, and examines many highs and lows of his uniquely fascinating career.

Larry memorably covered several of those subjects with Howard in 2015 when he made his Stern Show debut, opening up about everything from Vietnam and writing on “Saturday Night Live” to his next-door neighbor who inspired Cosmo Kramer’s character on “Seinfeld.” He’s also been a topic of conversation when several of his shows’ stars have visited the studio, from Jerry Seinfeld to “Curb Your Enthusiasm’s” J.B. Smoove and Richard Lewis. Check out a clip from the latter’s 2010 visit (below).

“The Larry David Story” premieres Tuesday, March 1 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
