Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Jeffrey Wright, Steve Carell, and Bryan Cranston co-star in the Wes Anderson sci-fi rom-com

Aliens make contact with denizens of an eccentric desert town in the new trailer for Wes Anderson’s 1950s-set sci-fi romantic comedy “Asteroid City.”

Stern Show veteran Scarlett Johansson plays Midge Campbell, a Hollywood starlet who gets stranded in Asteroid City alongside Jason Schwartzman, a widower with four children and a cranky father-in-law (played by Oscar winner Tom Hanks). Sparks fly as they encounter alien visitors and a wacky group of Junior Stargazer convention attendees.

Directed by Anderson and written by Anderson and Roman Coppola, “Asteroid City” features a robust cast of stars like Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell, Margot Robbie, Jeff Goldblum, Hong Chau, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Rupert Friend, and Maya Hawke. While this is the first film Maya and Scarlett have starred in together, the latter did get her start opposite the former’s father, Ethan Hawke, in the Off-Broadway production of “Sophistry.” Johansson told Howard all about the experience — and how enamored she was with the “gorgeous” actor — in her 2017 visit to the Stern Show. Check out the clip (below).

“Asteroid City” crashes into theaters June 16.
