Howard Reveals What He Loved and Hated About His Summer Trip to Italy
“It was the most beautiful country,” he says of the European destination

The big question on everyone’s minds this summer was whether Howard would enjoy his very first trip to Italy. On Wednesday morning, he and his wife Beth finally shared their review with listeners.
“It was the most beautiful country,” Howard said before explaining his experiences with Italian art and culture moved him more than he had expected. “We went to see the statue of David … the dude with the little penis,” he continued. “I just walked up to it and looked at it and was like, ‘Am I crying?’ It was so beautiful to see.”
“It’s massive,” Beth added.
“I never knew it was that big!” Howard agreed.
Not every aspect of the trip was as flawless as a Michelangelo sculpture, however. The King of All Media conceded he didn’t much enjoy boating on scenic Lake Como. “I sat by myself because I didn’t want to get any sun. I was wrapped up in a big hat like Dracula,” he laughed.
Considering the overall success of Howard’s summer sojourn, staffer Chris Wilding wondered what exotic locale he and Beth would visit next.
“I don’t know. It’s not like we got the travel bug or something, but we would go somewhere else I guess,” Howard said before quickly adding a qualifier: “I’m not doing anything that is like a 24-hour plane ride.”
