They say time heals all wounds, but after 20 years Sal Governale is still sore because Howard didn’t let him spend the night.
As longtime listeners may remember, the Stern Show staffer famously had an on-air meltdown in 2005 after Howard didn’t invite him over for a night of shenanigans that including watching “Survivor” together in bed.
“Sal’s still talking about that — and he’s still blaming me like I’m some kind of weirdo that didn’t want him to spend the night at my house,” Howard marveled on Monday before playing a recent clip for listeners in which Sal grows angry while discussing the situation with colleague Jon Blitt.
“All I wanted to do is spend the night … and then it turned into a whole thing,” Sal told Jon, adding, “I’ll tell you right now … we would’ve had the greatest time ever.”
Howard could only laugh. “Yeah, that’s my fantasy, to spend the night with Sal in my apartment and stay with him all night — he’s insane,” he joked before turning to Sal and speaking to him directly. “I barely want to employ you let alone spend the night with you,” Howard added with a laugh.
