Howard turned a dream into a reality for Stern Show staffer and Van Halen superfan Steve Nowicki when he flew him out to Las Vegas to spend time with one of his idols, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar.

“This is a dream come true for Steve Nowicki,” Howard told listeners on Wednesday, explaining his employee was thrilled to get up close and personal with the “I Can’t Drive 55” singer and longtime Van Halen frontman. “We thought it would be fun — like a Make-a-Wish kind of thing,” Howard joked.

“It was so fucking cool,” Steve acknowledged while holding his custom-built Eddie Van Halen guitar replica in his hands.

“Sammy texted me after you guys left and he said, ‘Your boy Steve, he’s shaking like a leaf,’” Howard told him.

Steve admitted as much, noting he was especially nervous when performing the iconic Van Halen song “5150” in front of Sammy. “This is the ultimate dream,” he told Howard, explaining he was shaking so much he could barely plug his guitar in. But everything fell into place when Hagar and his bandmates Michael Anthony and Rai Thistlewaite joined in on Steve’s impromptu jam session.

“It was unbelievable,” the staffer told Howard. “Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.”
