Benjy’s Final Plea

Toward the end of the show, Benjy came in to apologize: “I’m really, really sorry about being late…it was an unconscious thing.”

Howard disagreed: “It’s conscious. Everything is conscious, Benjy. There’s no deep level. I just told you. Everything you have under your control. I can’t control you. It’s all you.”

Benjy continued: “I’m saying I really try to take all measures and I overslept.”

Howard was indifferent to Benjy’s plea: “I need you here on time every day. All I hear is excuses, excuses, excuses…you were oversleeping and I’m the guy that has to deal with it.”

Benjy said he just wasn’t confident in his ability to wake up on time: “I don’t want to be under threat of being fired if I’m ever late again.”

Howard snapped: “You are. We can’t change that. You forced me to do it. It’s not my fault. It’s yours…just be here on time! That’s it.”
