Howard said he’d worked things out with Benjy over the weekend: “We had a little talk.”
Benjy nodded: “It was a real surprise and it was very nice of you to do that.”
Howard said he’d wanted to soften the blow of his on-air attack: “It’s true he was late and we had this discussion. I’m frustrated because I don’t know what to do about it and it would break my heart to fire the guy.”
Howard said Jimmy Kimmel had suggested that the show fine Benjy $100 the first time he’s late, with the fine climbing exponentially each time after that, with the proceeds going to the person Benjy hates the most–but Howard thought it would be better to keep things simple: “He gets locked out when he’s not here [on time].”
Howard’s final word laid responsibility on Ronnie the Limo Driver: “Ronnie has the lock-out card and that’s it.”
