Howard learned that Gary had to be interviewed for a volunteer position on his local Parks & Recreation board–and asked Gary if he thought he’d get a thumbs-up. Gary shrugged that he’d simply offered to help: “If they don’t want to hire this volunteer, they’ll hire another volunteer.”
Gary said it would be hilarious if he was rejected because of his involvement with the show: “It would be a riot to be the first [reject].”
