Howard took Robin’s argument one step further, speculating that Weiner wanted Benjy to interrupt him: “I believe this was orchestrated to get this kind of response–with people yelling and screaming–so the resignation wouldn’t be the thing. Because the resignation was bizarre. The whole thing was bizarre. His actions were bizarre. And therefore he didn’t have to answer any questions. He didn’t even have to make a full statement. He ran out of there–he got out–because of people like Benjy.”
