Howard Goes Against Glenn Beck and His Support of Intelligent Design

Early in the show, Howard harangued Glenn Beck for his support of the “intelligent design” theory– a theory long discredited by scientists: “These are people who have made tremendous contributions to our longevity, to our medicine, to our health–these are people who are trying to figure out life’s mysteries. They’re not sitting there reading stories that somebody wrote in a book and making believe.”

Frequent caller, Melrose Larry Green called in to defend his second favorite radio host, claiming that Glenn Beck was actually quite bright: “He’s a genius in my opinion.”

Still, Melrose admitted his bias: “You know I’m a right-wing nut. You know that.”

Howard laughed that Beck’s supporters trusted an overblown former morning zoo-keeper: “It’s an anti-intellectual movement.”
