Toward the end of the show Howard looked over at Benjy and, despite his self-imposed ban on further discussions of Benjy’s relationship, felt compelled to comment on his over-dyed beard. Benjy explained that he had fallen asleep as Elisa was dyeing it and she had to finish the job while he slept, causing the dye to stay on too long.

Howard continued to insist that the changes Benjy was making in order to appeal to Elisa were a sign of weakness. Benjy countered that he wasn’t weak, citing his refusal to get a tattoo Elisa wanted him to get as an example. Realizing he was being pulled back into discussing the topic, Howard changed the subject.
